Part 1
  1. The net or internet- a computer network consisting of a worldwide network of computer networks that use the TCP/IP network protocols to facilitate data transmission and exchange.
  1. WWW-mputer network consisting of a collection of internet sites that offer text and graphics and sound and animation resources through the hypertext transfer protocol.
  1. HTTP- hypertext transfer protocol: a protocol (utilizing TCP) to transfer hypertext requests and information between servers and browsers.
  1. URL- the address of a web page on the world wide web.
  1. IP address- An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical label that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication between its nodes.
  1. hyperlink or link- a link from a hypertext file to another location or file; typically activated by clicking on a highlighted word or icon at a particular location on the screen.
  1. website- a computer connected to the internet that maintains a series of web pages on the World Wide Web.
  1. home page- the opening page of a web site.
  1. index page- The home page or front page of a blog or website. This is the default page that displays when the top level of a website is accessed.
  1. search engine- a computer program that retrieves documents or files or data from a database or from a computer network.
  1. domain name- strings of letters and numbers (separated by periods) that are used to name organizations and computers and addresses on the internet.
12. server- is any combination of hardware or software designed to provide 
     service to lients.
